چکیده
Let G = (V, E) be a graph and n positive integer. In(G) the abstract simplicial complex whose simplices are subsets of V that do not contain an independent set size in G. We study collapsibility numbers complexes for various classes graphs, focusing on class graphs with maximum degree bounded by Δ. As application, we obtain following result claw-free at most Then, every collection $$\left\lfloor {\left( {{\Delta \over 2} + 1} \right)\left( {n - \right)} \right\rfloor 1$$ sets has rainbow n.

On Reachability in Graphs with Bounded Independence Number
We study the reachability problem for finite directed graphs whose independence number is bounded by some constant k. This problem is a generalisation of the reachability problem for tournaments. We show that the problem is first-order definable for all k. In contrast, the reachability problems for many other types of finite graphs, including dags and trees, are not first-order definable. Also ...
متن کاملMinimum Number of k-Cliques in Graphs with Bounded Independence Number
Let us give some definitions first. As usual, a graph G is a pair (V (G), E(G)), where V (G) is the vertex set and the edge set E(G) consists of unordered pairs of vertices. An isomorphism between graphs G and H is a bijection f : V (G) → V (H) that preserves edges and non-edges. For a graph G, let G = ( V (G), ( V (G) 2 ) \E(G) ) denote its complement and let v(G) = |V (G)| denote its order. F...
متن کاملComplexes of Graphs with Bounded Matching Size
For positive integers k,n, we investigate the simplicial complex NMk(n) of all graphs G on vertex set [n] such that every matching in G has size less than k. This complex (along with other associated cell complexes) is found to be homotopy equivalent to a wedge of spheres. The number and dimension of the spheres in the wedge are determined, and (partially conjectural) links to other combinatori...
متن کاملA Logspace Approximation Scheme for the Shortest Path Problem for Graphs with Bounded Independence Number
How difficult is it to find a path between two vertices in finite directed graphs whose independence number is bounded by some constant k? The independence number of a graph is the largest number of vertices that can be picked such that there is no edge between any two of them. The complexity of this problem depends on the exact question we ask: Do we only wish to tell whether a path exists? Do...
متن کاملCrossing Number for Graphs with Bounded~Pathwidth
The crossing number is the smallest number of pairwise edge-crossings when drawing a graph into the plane. There are only very few graph classes for which the exact crossing number is known or for which there at least exist constant approximation ratios. Furthermore, up to now, general crossing number computations have never been successfully tackled using bounded width of graph decompositions,...
